We live in the world where
three "spheres" co-existing in harmony.
Each "spheres"
coresponds to land, water and air.
We'd like to call them "Terrasphere,
Hydrosphere, Atmosphere.
Beyond
Spheres Project is a unique environmentally conscious
fine art project by Koichiro Kurita, a nature photographer.
As the world seems to hold numerous alarming crises
in the 21st century, the environmental conservation
is one of the most difficult challenges we face today.
Beypnd Spheres Project will follow the footsteps of
Henry David Thoreau, the
forefather of the early environmentalism. We believe
that Thoreau's philosophy and actions, which we know
from his writings, may give us ideas how to overcome
this difficult time.
On this project, we will tribute to two men. One of
them was in England, William
Henry Fox Talbot (1800-77) was one of the pioneers
of photography and Henry David Thoreau (1817-62) a
writer, naturalist and philosopher.
This project will
employ only the photographic equipments and a developing
process that were available at Thoreau's time. The
developing process is called "Calotype",
invented by William Henry Fox
Talbot , Thoreau's contemporary.
